Pozzobon - 58 Rosso Veneto - Recantina - DOC

Montello Asolo DOC Recantina 2022 is made from 100% Recantina, a Veneto native grape variety grown in the municipality of Volpago del Montello (TV) at about 300 meters above sea level. The presence of Recantina on the Montello has been documented since the 17th century, where it was among the most important red wines of the region. During the 20th century, for reasons that are not entirely clear, the variety almost completely disappeared from the vineyards. Only a few old vines remained. In recent decades, the grape variety has been rediscovered and replanted, restoring a clear and recognizable identity to the area. The vineyards are managed according to the Sylvoz system (long pruning with vegetation hanging down) on deep, clay-rich soils rich in minerals and organic matter, contributing to structure and concentration. Harvesting is done manually in the second decade of October, with yields of about 9,000 kg of grapes per hectare. Vinification includes bruising and fermentation in stainless steel with a skin soaking of 10-15 days at controlled temperatures between 22 and 24°C. Aging occurs for a minimum of 12 months in 17-hectolitre oak barrels, followed by six months of bottle aging before commercial release.

APPEARANCE: Intense ruby red with violet reflections.

SCENT: Aromas of ripe forest fruits, sweet spices and licorice.

TASTE: Smooth but powerful, with a distinct character of forest fruits and well-integrated warmth. The fresh finish provides balance and persistence.

PRODUCTION: Red wine - Montello Asolo DOC
ALCOHOL: 13%
SERVING TEMPERATURE: 14-16 °C

POZZOBON

Commendator Pozzobon Rosalio The Pozzobon farm and winery originated around 1700 as a settlement of farmers directly dependent on the noble Caotorta family on the Paolini estate in the countryside of Volpago del Montello, in the Belvedere area. This company has always grown vines to supply wine to the same noble family. In 1969, Countess Matilde Ponti, heiress of the noble Antifone Caotorta family, sold a significant portion of the Paolini estate to the current commendator Pozzobon, who has been producing and selling his own wines ever since. To protect consumer health and preserve the environment, integrated crop protection is applied, with technical guidance from Cecat in Castelfranco Veneto. The title “Commendatore dell’Ordine al Merito” The love of wine and dedication to work are undoubtedly one of the Pozzobon family’s secrets for creating outstanding wines. In recognition of the quality and prestige of their craftsmanship, Mr. Pozzobon Rosalio was honored in 1993 with the title of Knight, in 1996 with the title of Officer and finally in 2004 with the title of Commander of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic. Montello, Vines of High Quality On the clayey hills of Montello, the climate is dry in summer and cold in winter. The steep slopes (the vineyards are well situated and located on hilly or semi-hilly terrain) and the unique composition of the soil allow the vine to be one of the few crops that can survive in this environment. Under these climatic and environmental conditions, the vine produces limited but high-quality yields, which are maintained throughout the growing season by various arboricultural practices. These practices include summer cluster thinning, inter-row overgrowth and severe winter pruning.
Veneto is one of Italy’s most diverse and leading wine regions, located in the northeastern part of the country, between the Alps, Lake Garda and the Adriatic Sea. Thanks to this geographical diversity, Veneto boasts a unique interplay of climates and soils, ranging from cool and mountainous to mild and Mediterranean. This makes the region ideally suited for refined white wines as well as powerful and elegant reds. The region enjoys worldwide fame thanks to iconic wines such as Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG, made from partially raisined grapes. This wine is known for its concentrated flavors of ripe red fruits, chocolate, spices and a velvety texture. Valpolicella Ripasso and Valpolicella Classico also offer accessible but characterful red wines. In addition, Prosecco DOC from Veneto is unmissable as a fresh, lively sparkling wine with fruity aromas and a refined mousse. Veneto also excels in high-quality white wines. Soave, made from the Garganega grape, produces elegant, fresh and slightly mineral wines, ideal with fish dishes, seafood and light pasta. Other important grape varieties include Pinot Grigio and Trebbiano di Soave, which make for accessible and gourmet white wines. Whether you choose a powerful Amarone, a sparkling Prosecco or a crisp white Soave, Veneto offers an unprecedented wealth of Italian wines with quality, tradition and international allure.
