Santojanni - Centorami - Aglianico del Vulture - DOC

The Centorami - Aglianico del Vulture DOC 2020 is made from 100% Aglianico del Vulture, a native grape variety from Basilicata, grown in the municipality of Forenza at 721 meters above sea level. The vineyard covers one hectare and is managed according to the Guyot system on soils of medium composition. Yield is limited to about 30 quintals per hectare, which promotes concentration and depth. The harvest is completely manual in perforated crates at the end of October, with careful selection of the grapes. Vinification follows the classic red method: fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks for about 18 days at around 28°C, with remontages and délestage for optimal extraction and balance. After alcoholic fermentation, the wine matures for about 13 months in new French oak tonneaux, where malolactic fermentation also takes place. The wine then rests for another 4 months in steel and a minimum of 6 months in bottle before release.

APPEARANCE: Intense ruby red.

SCENT: Intense aromas of candied fruit, pear and sweet spices.

TASTE: Warm and enveloping, with elegant tannins supported by fresh acidity. Structured and long-lasting on the finish.

PRODUCTION: Red wine - Aglianico del Vulture DOC
ALCOHOL: 14%
SERVING TEMPERATURE: 18 °C

SANTOJANNI

A centennial history The establishment of the Santojanni/Natale farm dates back to the 1800s and is the result of the passion and commitment of our grandparents, Gaetana and Antonio, and of our aunt Rosangela Santojanni. Rosangela Santojanni: la Signorina In years when the female world in agriculture was silent and unrecognized, our aunt, known in the village as Signorina Santojanni, managed to revive the family business with courage and independence. She knew how to transform the knowledge of an ancient land into a sustainable economy. Rosangela was an innovative, creative, determined and elegant woman, and she respectfully nurtured the pristine nature of these lands. The company today Antonio, the third generation of the Santojanni family, has taken charge of this story today. In 2016 he returned to Basilicata with the support of his family and brothers to continue the qualitative potential of this land. Our goal is to make the company a place of hospitality, nature, sustainability, collaboration and culture. The company today is closely linked to respect for the naturalness of this area. We are mainly concerned with the care of the autochthonous vineyards owned by the company: Aglianico del Vulture and Malvasia di Basilicata, as well as the vast fields planted with durum wheat, barley and oats. The Vulture has shaped this land Monte Vulture, the ancient extinct volcano, dominates the landscape and surrounding fields. The Vulture is a natural resource for this region. High-quality wines are produced on his land and mineral water constantly springs from his springs.
If you love authentic, powerful and characterful Italian wines, Basilicata is definitely not to be missed. This rugged and unspoiled wine region in the deep south of Italy – between Campania and Puglia – is known for its volcanic soils, ancient wine culture and unique, intense flavors. Thanks to the mountainous landscape, fresh climate at altitude and mineral, volcanic soil, winemakers in Basilicata produce wines of unprecedented depth, structure and elegance. The absolute star of the region is the Aglianico del Vulture, a noble red wine considered one of Italy’s greatest grape varieties. With aromas of dark cherries, plums, tobacco and a refined minerality, it offers a powerful but perfectly balanced taste experience. In addition to Aglianico, Basilicata is also home to surprising indigenous varieties such as Malvasia Bianca di Basilicata and Greco, which provide fresh, aromatic white wines with lively acidity. Whether you like robust red wines, refined white varieties or characterful wines with a volcanic expression – in Basilicata you will discover real gems with a unique identity. Discover our range of Basilicata wines and taste the pure soul of southern Italy. From a majestic Aglianico del Vulture to an elegant Malvasia Bianca – with us you will find the perfect wine for every occasion.
