Antica Cascina dei Conti di Roero - Barbera d'Alba - Barbera - DOC - BIO
The Barbera d'Alba DOC 2024 is made from 100% Barbera, a native Piedmont grape variety, from the Cascina Penna vineyard in the municipality of Canale, an area traditionally suitable for growing Barbera. The vineyard, planted in 1997, covers three hectares in a natural amphitheater with eastern exposure, on sandy marl soils. Its location out of full sun helps maintain freshness and lively acidity, characteristic of Barbera. The harvest takes place in late September and is done entirely by hand in small crates. Vinification includes fermentation with skin soaking for 15 to 20 days. Aging occurs first for six months in stainless steel and then six months in second-pass barriques, which adds structure and complexity without overpowering the fruit.APPEARANCE: Intense ruby red.
SCENT: Aromas of ripe fruit, plum, blackberry and morels, with subtle spicy nuances.
TASTE: Fresh and lively, carried by nice acidity. The finish evokes notes of forest fruits, with slight hints of vanilla.
PRODUCTION: Red wine - Barbera d'Alba DOC
ALCOHOL: 13.5%
SERVING TEMPERATURE: 16-18 °C
Antica Cascina dei Conti di Roero
“Our estate is our family” In the heart of Roero – a UNESCO World Heritage Site – in Vezza d’Alba, Antica Cascina dei Conti di Roero has been producing wines since 1950. On these ancient hills, Daniela’s parents bought Cascina Valmenera and merged the vineyards of Monteu Roero to start their wine production. Their quality wine production began in 1970 with the establishment of the winery, which today is run by Daniela and her husband Luigi. For Daniela and Luigi, winemaking in Roero means producing only monocépage wines. When tasting, each sip of Roero wine represents its unique terroir – the result of millions of years of natural evolution. This is the winemaking philosophy of Antica Cascina dei Conti di Roero. Our white wines ferment in stainless steel tanks until bottling, which takes place after 5 to 6 months. Our red wines ferment with a long maceration of 30 to 40 days. After malolactic fermentation, part of the wine is raised in wood: Roero Sant’Anna ages two years in wood, Nebbiolo d’Alba ages 6 to 8 months in barriques of second passage and Barbera d’Alba comes to rest in wood for 6 months. Area: Roero is more than just vineyards and wines – the rich and biodiverse soil is a unique heritage of Antica Cascina dei Conti di Roero. Daniela and Luigi produce Roero DOCG wines and Spumante on a piece of land that emerged from the sea more than 3 million years ago and still preserves the great, unique geological richness of the Roero terroir. Our wines In the Roero area we grow two of the noblest indigenous grape varieties – Nebbiolo and Arneis – with which we produce wines such as Roero and Roero Arneis, both awarded the highest DOCG classification. Since 2009, Antica Cascina dei Conti di Roero has also been producing sparkling wines using the traditional method and supporting The Green Experience project, which promotes sustainable viticulture by applying natural techniques and avoiding herbicides and chemical fertilizers.Antica Cascina dei Conti di Roero - Barbera d'Alba - Barbera - DOC - BIO
