Antica Cascina dei Conti di Roero - Nebbiolo d'Alba - Nebbiolo - DOC - BIO

The Nebbiolo d'Alba DOC 2023 is made from 100% Nebbiolo, a native grape variety of Piedmont, grown in the vineyards of Cascina Valmenera in the municipality of Vezza d'Alba. The vines, planted in the late 1990s, stand in a natural amphitheater with southwest exposition on sandy and calcareous soils of maritime origin. In this setting, Nebbiolo is fully expressed with elegance, structure and aromatic finesse, balancing power and precision. Harvest takes place between late September and early October and is done entirely by hand in small crates. Vinification includes fermentation at controlled temperature for about 15 days, followed by malolactic fermentation in tank. Aging occurs partly in barriques of second passage and partly in large wooden barrels for about 8-9 months. After assemblage, the wine rests for another 4-5 months in stainless steel before bottling.

APPEARANCE: Ruby Red.

SCENT: Fine and delicate, with aromas of rose and violets, wild strawberry and raspberry.

TASTE: Dry and harmonious, with good structure and a lingering finish.

PRODUCTION: Red wine - Nebbiolo d'Alba DOC
ALCOHOL: 14%
SERVING TEMPERATURE: 16-18 °C

Antica Cascina dei Conti di Roero

“Our estate is our family” In the heart of Roero – a UNESCO World Heritage Site – in Vezza d’Alba, Antica Cascina dei Conti di Roero has been producing wines since 1950. On these ancient hills, Daniela’s parents bought Cascina Valmenera and merged the vineyards of Monteu Roero to start their wine production. Their quality wine production began in 1970 with the establishment of the winery, which today is run by Daniela and her husband Luigi. For Daniela and Luigi, winemaking in Roero means producing only monocépage wines. When tasting, each sip of Roero wine represents its unique terroir – the result of millions of years of natural evolution. This is the winemaking philosophy of Antica Cascina dei Conti di Roero. Our white wines ferment in stainless steel tanks until bottling, which takes place after 5 to 6 months. Our red wines ferment with a long maceration of 30 to 40 days. After malolactic fermentation, part of the wine is raised in wood: Roero Sant’Anna ages two years in wood, Nebbiolo d’Alba ages 6 to 8 months in barriques of second passage and Barbera d’Alba comes to rest in wood for 6 months. Area: Roero is more than just vineyards and wines – the rich and biodiverse soil is a unique heritage of Antica Cascina dei Conti di Roero. Daniela and Luigi produce Roero DOCG wines and Spumante on a piece of land that emerged from the sea more than 3 million years ago and still preserves the great, unique geological richness of the Roero terroir. Our wines In the Roero area we grow two of the noblest indigenous grape varieties – Nebbiolo and Arneis – with which we produce wines such as Roero and Roero Arneis, both awarded the highest DOCG classification. Since 2009, Antica Cascina dei Conti di Roero has also been producing sparkling wines using the traditional method and supporting The Green Experience project, which promotes sustainable viticulture by applying natural techniques and avoiding herbicides and chemical fertilizers.
