Bergmannhof - Hoamet - Vernatsch - IGP - BIO
The Mitterberg IGP Vernatsch/Schiava Hoamet 2022 is made from 100% Schiava (Vernatsch), a native Alto Adige grape variety grown in the vineyards of Bergmannhof in Sankt Pauls/Appiano. The vines grow on gravelly, clay and limestone soils, with zones particularly rich in stones, which provides good drainage and contributes to the finesse of the wine. The vineyards are managed according to the Guyot system and the vines, with an average age of about 20 years, produce a yield of about 60 hl per hectare. Harvesting is done manually between mid and late September, with careful selection of the grapes. Vinification is via spontaneous maceration with partially whole grape bunches in open tonneaux. This is followed by malolactic fermentation and aging for about 18 months on fine lie in oak tonneaux. The wine is bottled in April 2024 without clarification or filtration to preserve the authenticity and complexity of the wine.APPEARANCE: Bright ruby red.
SCENT: Elegant bouquet with aromas of ripe cherries, small red fruits and slight spicy nuances.
TASTE: Harmonious and elegant, with fine tannins and a pleasant freshness that provides balance and depth on the finish.
PRODUCTION: Red wine - Mitterberg IGP Vernatsch/Schiava
ALCOHOL: 12.5%
SERVE TEMPERATURE: 14 °C
We the Bergmannhof
Johannes & Tanya, Benjamin and mom Agata & dad Josef. All different characters, together one family. Each brings their own perspective and new ideas, and together we form the diversity that characterizes us.
THE WINERY
In the middle of the vineyards of Eppan, overlooking the Dolomites of South Tyrol. Here lies our winery – a place where we work, exchange ideas, grow – and make wines that have personality.
OUR HOME
For us, the farm is more than a workplace. It is the place where we live – a meeting place for generations, a home for stories. And for everyone who wants to be part of the Bergmannhof.
OUR VINEYARD
Wine is not created by one big idea you had. But through many small moments and working steps – day after day.
In the vineyard, for us it’s about acting carefully: not controlling everything, but acting at exactly the right moment. Precise and deliberate. Every action contributes to the balance of our vines: careful pruning, targeted sowing, careful defoliation – and a lot of handiwork. What we do in the vineyard today affects what is in the glass tomorrow – and what the next generation will ever find here.
IN THE CELLAR
Don’t force things – that’s our principle. The grapes are processed carefully – without pumping and, above all, without prescription. Our wines remain on the yeast for as long as is good for them. Many wines mature in wooden barrels; all wines are given the time they need. We refrain from clarification and deliberately keep the use of sulfur low – just as much as necessary. Because in the end, an honest wine must emerge. A wine that shows its own character: its quality, its origin – and how it is allowed to develop on its own.
Wine making is like life – every year is different.
